[X4U] Macpro processor choice

Processors are usually the harder and more costly option to change once you
have bought the computer, especially in laptops. This is true in both the
Mac and PC worlds.
RAM is much easier to change and usually more cost effective. If possible,
try to spec the machine so you don't have to throw away the existing memory
when you upgrade. eg: get 1 * 1GB instead of 2 * 512MB, even if it is
slightly more costly. That way you only need to add one memory module.
