[X4U] iPhoto question

Hi All

I have iphoto 2.0.1 on Panther and was wondering if, after putting the 
photos that show up in the main window in their own album on the left, 
I can delete them (but not trash them) and still have them. I find it 
takes forever for the pics to load up in the main window (the 
library?). I have a B&W upped to 800 mhz but it's still pretty slow on 
iPhoto.
