Dual layer DVD's have always been in the DVD spec - meaning for your Settop DVD player (or computer DVD-ROM) to have the DVD logo, it had to be able to read dual layer DVD's. If you have ever watched a 3 hour movie on a DVD, it was most likely Dual Layer. A single-sided single-layer DVD is 4.7GB (or less - never more). A single-sided Dual-layer DVD is 8.4GB (or less). Therefore, if you have a DVD that is greater than 4.7GB (actually 4.3 in real life), than you MUST have a dual layer DVD. -- Nick Scalise nickscalise at cox.net
