I do know that RTF means different things in OS neXt and in the Windoze world.

Begin horror story.

* RTF file received as a request for quotation for non-computing electronics.
* Can't read it in TextEdit or in Word 2001 on my 8500 running 9.1
* Colleague sends me the "official" RTF specification from Microsoft's developer-only site.
* It's a WORD document. Open it on the 8500.
* Select save as RTF. WORD crashes OS 9.1 - not surprising.
* Kill extensions, increase WORD size to something huge, run nothing else
* Save-as now works on OS 9.1.
* Over on TextEdit  OX 10.2.sss, which was current, text was readable but full of {xyz} uninterpreted RTF.
* Colleague reports that he can't save the RTF spec as RTF using real and current Windoze.

End horror story

So. . .
Whatever you find you can be pretty sure it will not include "truth" in accordance with the "current" specification of RTF.

Anyone have a pointer to Apple's "official" RTF specification?
