The demodulator built into VCR's are not stereo.  Even if the VCR itself is
stereo, ie it will play back both channels of a stereo tape, the demodulator
wont.  I have purchased demodulators on-line, but stereo ones were
expensive, more than the cost of a stereo VCR, maybe $80, but it's been at
least seven years since I've looked into this.
