[X4U] Problem with classic

Help! I run Quark Express 4.11 on a new mac mini. All of a sudden 
while working on a document and while attempting to select either 
text or image or access the tool bar the program freezes. The issue 
manifested following the installation of and use of a new mouse, 
Microsoft. There has not been any problem working in OSX10.3.9 just 
in classic. Advise please.

I did order the 6.5 upgrade.
