[X4U] Tiger DVD burning: LAME!

hi, michael;
At the time of one of those errors, I was trying
to burn 4.11GB of data onto a disk. IIRC, that
4.74GB size refers to the total space on the
disc, including the instructions needed to
navigate and manage the disc.
I've found that I can reliably put 4.25GB of data
onto a DVD. 4.25 is larger than 4.11, a fact the
OS and the Mini weren't getting.
I wasn't doing any kind of fancy burning here,
just load up the data, and hit "burn," resorting
to creating disk images to get it done (at the
cost of much time!)
Peripherals: I have a dongle which I use with
Lightwave, and a powered USB hub with my
keyboard/mouse connected to it (dongle takes up 1
of the Mini's usb ports; the hub another).
I did the trick of creating a new account, and
burning (successfully) then went back and trashed
those prefs files.
Have no 3rd-party burning software or any
utilities for that matter; I reinstalled my
system Saturday, and haven't even gotten around
to putting all of my software and utilities back
on, so, this is a pretty Apple-pure system.
thanks!
