[X4U] Microsoft Access 2003

I would like to access a Microsoft Access 2003 database file on the mac.

I have tried this via Open Office but without any success. I  
suggested to the owner that he exports the data which I could then  
import into filemaker but he has no idea how to do this. I have never  
used Microsoft Access 2003 and so without it in front of me cannot  
begin to make helpful suggestions.

Suggestions of how this can be achieved would be welcome
