If you're just using it for internet access, you should probably take a good look at the features vs. the costs of both. Base your decision on that. In my case I need a static IP, and am running servers at home. As a result, I need features that Cable doesn't offer (neither do standard DSL packages). I have my line with Verizon, but my ISP is Aracnet. If I had to "upgrade" to a straight Verizon account, I'd be looking at paying at least $40 more per month, as I'd have to get a business line.
