I bought this DVD writer from <http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php? 
pid=1020> for 40 pound.   Tax and shipping to Belgium included.  I  
had to remove the front plate from the bay.  With a paperclip bring  
the bay out.  Pull the front slightly at the bottom to you, (to move  
away from 2 notches) and then move it up to glide from 2 holder places.
I used it in a G5/2.5.  The front has to be removed or the bay can't  
come out the Mac.
