I don't know about a virus... But if you look at the picture provided with
the story, it looks like a kernel panic, which in some cases can appear to
most users as if "strange commands are running as if the machine was under
the control". Could it be that his Mac had a kernel panic that caused this
"damage'?

I have not heard or read of any new viruses for OSX since the OS X/Leap.A in
February... There are no alerts on Symantec's site or intego... Nothing on
Maccentral... I say it's FUD.
