Thanks Eddie! I sware I tried that a few weeks ago and did a search for a specific file name I could see in the /Library folder but the result came up empty. I must have been doing it incorrectly somehow - the folders in the "Others..." window were even ticked. Anyway, this is a good help forward. However, the rest of Spotlight for date searching is LAME-O! I can't manage to do any of the following: * Sort the result into one long list (removing them from their categories) * Sort them chronologically. I can't click on anything to sort them. * Search via a time. "Today" is the closest to NOW incriment it currently allows. Since I can't order them chronologically I would have liked to have changed the search criteria to anything modified within the past hour or better, 10 minutes... Why did Apple remove so much of the flexibility of the previous Find? Can Spotlight search the System & > Library folders? Yes, Spotlight can search the /System and /Library directories, but only if you specify them. For instance, hit Command-F in the Finder and when the search UI appears click the Others... Button. Click the Add button to add either or both of the folders (or just drag them into the window pane) and make sure they are checked on. After clicking the OK button you can change the criteria in the search UI to Last Modified=Today or whatever you want. But forget about finding invisible files as that is still broken in Tiger. -- Eddie Hargreaves
