I'm on the end of an ADSL line. All work absolutely fine and speed is not an issue. Things you can do to make life less painful: 1) Change the desktop background to a solid colour (as opposed to an image). Makes quite a big difference. 2) Learn to love working in grayscale. Preferences -> Control/ Observe, move image quality slider to left. I have it one notch in from the left hand side "Faster" setting. For slow, try managing remote connection through a mobile's modem using GPRS. Glacial. Makes you realise why one's got the command line!
