I'm a Unix Sysadmin by trade, but basically never tinker around under the hook on Mac OS X. In fact I think the extent has pretty much been to use nidump/niload to dump the hosts file and update it rather than going through the GUI (way to painful for me). For this kind of thing on other Unix systems, I typically use Perl, as it's great for manipulating data. I also use Perl on the Mac for a few things, such as munging data into a state that it can be input into an SQL database. Zane -- | Zane H.
