[X4U] OT: anything like "Publish and Subscribe" in Appleworks OSX?

There is a feature that I miss from the OS9 days:  Publish and  
Subscribe.

I use Appleworks for spreadsheet functions.  I have multiple  
spreadsheets.  I would like to set up a system where a central  
spreadsheet is able to "mine" data from specific fields on multiple  
sheets to be able to give me a dashboard summary of the data fields  
"live".

I used to be able to do this with Publish and Subscribe.

Does anybody know of a way to duplicate this functionality?
