[X4U] Change desktop picture

Hasn't become a problem for me. I would suspect a corrupted  
preference file in ~/Library/Preferences. Login as a different user  
(you do have a pristine emergency account available, right?) and see  
if the Desktop changes. If so, delete the file (I think this is the  
right one)   "com.apple.desktop.plist" and start over.
