I use NeoOffice. This is the OpenOffice port for Mac OS X. There is another Mac compatible version but it requires an extra install. NeoOffice provides changes tracking, macros, indexing and is very close to the MS Office feature set. It reads and writes Microsoft file formats as well as providing open standard formats. Just my two cents, which I have because NeoOffice is "donation-ware" - free to download and use, with donations happily accepted.
