Thanks for the suggestion.  I gave it a try but unfortunately it  
didn't work.  As Brett mentioned I probably can't do much more until  
I get some 10.4 disks.  For now, though I've got Firefox, which is  
fine since it's all I used in Linux anyway.  As for DVD playing, I  
tried VLC and apparently a lowly 400Mhz G4 isn't up to the task of  
running it without stuttering video and/or sound (depending on how I  
size the window), even after killing off everything else I had  
running.  So I downloaded NicePlayer and find it performs  
flawlessly.  Good enough!
