But updating to .10 caused the problem. It depends on what you really mean by "is". :). I went back to the Apple Forums and found a thread I had not seen yesterday in which someone mentioned Piclens was the culprit. Since I do not use it I forgot I had it. This also explains why when someone wrote: Get rid of all your plugins, I said I had none. For people who like Piclens, I for one never cared for it, there is an update that fixes the conflict between the new update and Piclens apparently.
