Select the drive icon on the desktop.
Perform a "Get Info" on the drive.
Open the Ownership & Permissions section.
Change owner to yourself.
Change the permissions for that drive to what you desire.
Lock the settings if desired.
Close the window.
Go on about your business.

You may have to enter your Administrator password to complete this  
procedure.
