[X4U] Apple Mail keeps launching spontaneously in Leopard

I'm not sure if this was happening in Tiger or not, but every time I  
quit Mail, it relaunches again after 5-10 seconds.  Is there a cron  
log or some other way I can determine what is telling the computer to  
relaunch this program?  I had it set to launch on login using the  
Login Items section of the Accounts prefpane, but I've disabled/ 
deleted that startup item.
