>Is there any way to save a youtube video off of a web site? Thanks Bob Besides all the third-party utilities for downloading YouTube videos, there's also a method I learned just recently that doesn't depend on using another program. It's this: Start playing a YouTube video. It will still be downloading while the beginning of it is playing. While it is still downloading, go to Safari's Window menu and choose Activity (or shortcut, Command-Option-A). In the Activity window, look for the YouTube video you are downloading. Near the top of the list of downloaded links is one that usually starts with "http://" followed by an IP address like "74.125.12.95" followed often (usually?) by the words "get_video". Then the URL goes on much further. To the right of the whole URL you will see that that file size will be in megabytes rather than bytes and kilobytes as are the rest of the items in the Activity window. Anyway when you find that URL in the Activity window, double click it, and immediately, the YouTube video will begin downloading to your hard drive. Be sure not to disconnect until it is finished. You will end up with a file called "get_video". Change its name to something more descriptive, and be sure to add the suffix, ".flv" to the file name. At that point, anything that opens flash files will open it. In my case, double clicking such a file immediately opens it in MPEGStreamclip, from where I can export it in an amazing array of formats, including good old QuickTime. But you can also open it straight out in QuickTime Pro then save or export it as a movie from there. I learned this from someone else on a list and I like it best because it doesn't depend on someone else's keeping their shareware/freeware up to date. Daly ----------------------
