[X4U] Needed: s/w to password protect an external HD

Can someone recommend some software that will password protect an external
HD? I have an external FW HD that I want to keep prying eyes off. In the old
MacOS 9 days I used to use Silverlining, which would ask me for a password
whenever I turned it on and it mounted to the desktop. I¹m looking for
something just like that. Recommendations appreciated!
