David, are you working with the same RIP'd folder from MTR? It may pay for you to try RIP'n the original DVD again. Does the RIP'd folder also play up in the same place when you play it from the computer - not sure if you've mentioned that or not. If it does then it is a bad RIP, if it doesn't it is likely a burn problem (probably in the layer change area as mentioned). And yes, you're right, there aren't dual layer re-writables - my bad.
