I've had the lens in my right eye replaced due to cataracts, and subsequent laser surgery to treat a secondary cataract. I also live in sunny Southern California and find the glossy screen choice a no brainer for me. The brightness and clarity is so much better. As mentioned in other posts, the difference is most noticeable when the matte and glossy screens are compared side by side. Even more so in direct sunlight as the matte screen was nearly unusable unless set to full brightness and the glossy screen looked brilliant at half that. My sensitivity to light has never been an issue with regard to the glossy screen nor has glare. jon
