In my case, as I am the only user of this Mac, I just mainly keep third-party applications in my ~/Applications folder. I mainly reserve the /Applications folder for applications from Apple, or a few others I'm afraid to mess with (like Adobe applications and Microsoft Office) and a few Utilities that seem to want to be at the top level. I definitely keep all Apple applications in /Applications, so they get updated by Software Update. Software Update won't look in the ~/Applications folder. Daly ----------------------
