I loved reading the tangent about oil changes. Folks get really worked up about this issue. On the one hand, it's true, scientific studies have shown that you don't need to change your oil every 3,000 miles...every 7,000 should do fine. On the other hand, the comment that folks who change their oil religiously every 3,000 miles never seem to have to rebuild their engines, is empirically true.
