Software publishers don't make money off people who happily stay put with the software they already paid for. same goes for hardware manufacturers. the solution? manufacture a need. In this case, that means, make it so that last year's hardware, eventually, will stop working, in whole or in part, stop being compatible or threatens to leave its user outmoded, outclassed, out gunned and out gunned. Don't buy into that subtext? Then do some reading on the history of "marketing" in this country. zc
