The NAS is a Buffalo Linkstation (one of 2) which runs a cutdown version of Debian Gnu Linux. I have never investigated what hardware (ie hard drive) it contains as it has worked faultlessly out of the box with both Linux and Mac clients. It comes with 2 USB ports and built in printer support. At one time I had them hooked up to an ethernet switch which was connected to an Air Port Express and that worked fine except for streaming video while other parts of the network were in use. The Mac Mini I admin from my iMac (24" 3.06GHz) using screen sharing.
