Thanks so much for the responses, they were appreciated.

Since Plan A is apparently not a good one, Here is Plan B.

Keep both Office 04 and 08 on my hard drive, which I had planned to do
anyway. Set up my Entourage 08 preferences to leave mail on the server, then
hourly have Entourage 04 download and delete from the server  (which I do
now). Lots of redundancy here, but that's not a big deal.

I am also open to other workable solutions.
