[X4U] Time Machine options?

I've recently started using Apple's Time Machine as a back-up tool;  
pretty neat.  However, I don't need to do a backup as often as it  
wants to (hourly for a day, daily for a month, weekly forever) - once  
a day, or so, would be more than adequate.

There are no controls on Time Machine to change any of this - unless  
I'm missing something.  Are there other options?
