[X4U] NVIDEA v Radeon and price of each

I reading comments that the NVIDEA card is the better card in  
macs...in the high-end iMac, the card is NVIDEA; Radeon in the less  
expensive models.

but when you look at BTO options for the mac pro, the NVIDEA shows up  
as less expensive than the Radeons, which puzzles me.

My experience is that higher-performance gear costs more than lower- 
performance gear. Am I looking at it wrong?
