If you download this program: EasyFind (free) http://www.devon-technologies.com/products/freeware/index.html You are given the choice, under the Edit menu, to move a file or folder to the Trash, or to simply "Destroy" an item. EasyFind is a wonderful utility. Since it doesn't rely on an index, like Spotlight, it can find anything on your hard drive, not just the stuff in the locations where Spotlight looks.
