[X4U] Can't view pics in mail or preview

Macbook, 10.6.2, When `I view email with pics (jpeg, tif, doesn't matter)
The pics don't display; when `I open them in `Preview, I get a blank window.
These display fine when viewed on other computers.

Any ideas?
