Thanks for the suggestion. I just got back from the Apple store with my new cable ($50). It is easy and it works fine in the iPad video app and YouTube app. The sales clerk says it also works in other apps like Netflix and Hulu, although I haven't tested that. It did not work for me in VLC nor the ABC app. In a few days I leave for my trip. This cable will come in handy, but first I have some videos to transcode into the Apple approved codec. Thanks again.
