Quicktime used to be installed with editing capability but you had to purchase Quicktime pro by clicking a button.  Did your version 7 have the option enabled?

I stopped purchasing Quicktime Pro just as soon as I realized that you had to purchase it anew every time Apple updated anything associated with it.
