True, but if you have an edge server scanning for that stuff, they catch the vast majority of viruses. Then, your life critical machines are on a network that does not have email (that should have been in my first response) or web access, and is locked down, tight. I would say this is a good policy no matter what OS you are running. I am not defending windows here, much. I am saying that a proper network is fairly hard to penetrate. There should be lots of layers and lots of protection between layers. If their whole network was brought down, well, someone should go. Windows or not.
