[X4U] Back up photos in iPhoto

I guess its been too long since I backed up my parent's photos. I used to just go into the iPhoto folder, select all the folders since the last time I backed them up and burn those folders to a CD or DVD.

But now the iPhoto library is a single file/bundle, so I can't do that. iPhoto gives me the option of burning them to a CD/DVD that only iPhoto can read, or exporting and backing up from there. The only problem is, if I export several hundred photos, they're all dumped into the same folder. I can't see any way to have it sort them the way they used to be. All sense of organization is gone. 

Does anyone know a better way to back up the photos or automatically organize the export?
