[X4U] Problem with MBP and OS X 10.4.11

Curious, what is it that makes you think the files are still there?  Did he or you not observe a huge increase in the amount of free space? Or..some other clue?

hope you find them all…have you or he tried to search for some file type or keyword he knows is in there?
Maybe if that method reveals one file, it'll show where all the others are too…
