I'm still not sure that using standard FW drives isn't more economical even in that configuration. Another issue with the NAS is that it's a one-of kind of thing. If you have issues with it then you're dead in the water until you can get it fixed or replaced and reconfigured. Standard drives give you more flexibility. If you're really concerned about having a RAID then you could do that with either Disk Utility or SoftRAID as well; although I personally prefer the extra flexibility of the stand alone drives.
