In order to have the WiFi sync work, you must first set it up on the iMac. This could help to diagnose the connectivity issue you're having (Printopia). 1. Plug in the iPad via USB 2. Go to the Summary tab 3. Check the "Sync this iPad over Wi-Fi" box. 4. Disconnect the iPad 5. See if the iPad remains visible in iTunes, and will sync when you click the "Sync" button in iTunes. If this works, that's important data. If it doesn't work, it's probably a second symptom of the connectivity issue you're having with Printopia. Another thing to try is to download Apples's "Re,mote" app to your iPad. I forget if it's free or costs 99 cents. But the Remote app should be able to "find" your iTunes Library, assuming iTunes is running on the iMac. If it cannot find the library, that's likely another symptom of the connectivity issue you're having with Printopia. All that said, how difficult would it be for you to replace the D-Link - even temporarily - with an Airport Extreme or Airport Express to see if that solves the issue(s)?
