I would leave it that way. I just reformatted one of the mini-USB HD's I use when travelling to backup the day's photo's as exFAT. From what I'm told you really want to format any exFAT devices on a PC rather than on a Mac. On a Win7 system, I found that I had to first format it as NTFS, and I was then able to reformat as exFAT.
