[X4U] MAC to TV Corrected Information

Hello,

I have a MacPro desktop, 2.66 Quad core Intel Xeon, 8 GB DDR3, running OS 10.8.5.

I bought a 25' vga cable with sound connections. I plugged it into the DVI pigtail and connected it to my HD TV through the vga/sound connection ans selected PC for the input to the TV.

No picture/sound on TV.  "SIGNAL NOT DETECTED"

When I went to SysPref and clicked Display there is NO "AUTO DETECT" for the TV and it does NOT show up in the list of DISPLAYS.

Was told this was a simple plug and view ... HELP!!!
