I got this tip from Peachpit (Mac Tip of the Week #462) The Mac App Store puts the OS X Mavericks installer into your Applications folder. However, before running the installer, I recommend making a copy of it: In the Finder, choose Go > Applications (or press Command-Shift-A), and then drag the Mavericks installer to the Desktop while holding down the Option key. Why? After the installation is finished, Mavericks deletes the installer. You can get it again if needed from the Mac App Store, but that involves another lengthy download. Having a copy is also useful if you want to install Mavericks on another computer you own. Paul Moortgat
