Sending files by IR

Hi All-
My first question for this list.

I want to send files (java,midi) to a Nokia using a USB IR adapter,in 
10.2 the adapter shows in the tool bar adjacent to the bluetooth symbol.
The question is how do I send a file via IR - I currently have to use a 
Windows laptop using a program called 'IR sender',it does'nt care what 
device you're sending the file to - it just gives a failed indication 
if unsuccessful.

How can I get the the same functionality from my Mac in 10.2 or 9.1,do 
I need a program or is the function hidden somewhere?
