you should send this to belkin, i am sure it would give them cause to 
think about why they would do that

i often work in a semi-dark room, it would end up like a light show

of course, you CAN always unplug it when you are not actually using it, 
which may be easier than attempting to deflect/shield it's in-built 
strobe lighting effect

otherwise it sounds great!
