Your iMovie is probably being exported as a basic quicktime .mov file. That won't play on (most) phones. The most compatible format for video on mobile phones is probably 3GPP Quicktime Pro can export the format, it's the setting Export: Movie to 3G You can also try the MPEG-4 format.
