[BTM] Bluetooth P900/MAC pairing

I have a Sony P900 smart phone.
I have had a terrible time pairing the phone with my MAC OX 10.3.6 via 
Bluetooth setup assistant.
Error message: "Pairing attempt was unsuccessful. "
Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Seems to be no pattern. Is 
there a way to pair these devices with ease?
In general I find the sync process to complicated and too many steps - 
so I avoid syncing. Not good.
