Update on Battery reset problem

Hi folks,

Thanks for all the pointers and suggestions.

I hadn't seen these messages before I tried the following:

I switched the machine off, removed the battery, and let the laptop sit
for about 15 minutes without any power. Then I reinstalled the battery and
locked it in place. The battery was now showing that it was fully charged
(prior to all this, it appeared to be completely discharged, there were no
lights at all when I pressed the button on the battery). Then I tried to
start the machine using the battery -- no response. Then I used the mains
adaptor to start up the machine and after it was completely started up, I
disconnected the mains. This time the battery was connected and fully
charged.

It makes no sense. Does anyone have an idea as to what might have
happened? I did reformat the hard disk once and then completely
reinstalled OS X.2.1 and then OS 9.2.2. I'm very interested to know what
is happening here.

Thanks again,
