[P1] CDR/RW?

Hi,
I have a problem: The CD drive has gone in my original blueberry 
ibook (started failing to recognise the existence of CDs 
occasionally, then more often with a lot of churning, now won't at 
all).

Given that I probably don't have the wherewithall do much about it, 
so am probably going to have to spend some cash, it seems a good 
opportunity to upgrade to a CDRW. Which leaves me with a couple of 
questions:

a) Is there any way of obtaining/fitting an internal CDRW? I've 
discovered the WegenerMedia.com deal, but I'm in the UK and shipping 
the ibook to the states doesn't seem a great idea, does anyone know 
of alternatives?

b) If an internal drive is going to be a problem what might be my 
best strategy on an external CDRW? Presumably nothing is going to 
work very fast via the USB, so is there somewhere I can get something 
fairly low spec., maybe second hand, moderately cheaply?

Any help gratefully received, I'm running OS 9.2.2 in case that's of 
relevance to anything.
